Perhaps more than even culture writing, politics requires knowledge of a specific, technical kind of language. In this class, Grace Byron will guide you on how to generate ideas, find outlets, and use the lingo that veteran politics reporters and editors use when building a story. From interviewing subjects, write-arounds, and opinion pieces, you will analyze a few pitches and stories to get a better sense of how to get started. They will conceive and launch new podcast concepts from idea through pilot, cultivate on-air editorial talent across the magazine's portfolio, and oversee all aspects of show development and programming. Candidates should have at least 10 years of experience developing original audiovisual programs, a track record of taking shows from concept to launch, and strong editorial instincts for translating magazine coverage into compelling formats. The salary range is $150,000 to $250,000.

 -Curbed is hiring a Real Estate Reporter based in NYC to cover the people, deals, developments, and trends shaping the city’s real estate market and neighborhoods. They will cover breaking news, report on tips related to real estate, and track real estate transactions and market activity. Candidates should have at least two years of reporting experience covering real estate, housing, or business, and a strong track record of original published journalism. The salary range is $80,000 to $95,000.

 -Science Magazine is hiring a Photo Editor based in Washington, DC to source high-quality imagery for publication in Science and News from Science. They will collaborate with editors to develop visual solutions, prepare images for print, online, and social platforms, and handle color correction and image archiving. Candidates should have two or more years of news photo editing experience, knowledge of photojournalism ethics, and proficiency in Adobe Photoshop. The salary range is $70,000 to $80,000.  -Miami New Times is hiring a Multimedia Reporter based in Miami, FL to cover local news, government corruption, and enterprise features across South Florida. They will report fast-moving breaking news and investigative stories, produce short-form vertical videos, and build sources across the metro area. Candidates should have strong reporting and writing skills on deadline, experience producing video content, and experience filing public-records requests.
