-MIT Technology Review is calling for pitches from freelance writers for online and print stories exploring where technology collides with society and human lives. They are commissioning news and analysis pieces (800 to 1,000 words), longform narrative features and investigations (2,500 to 4,000 words), reported essays, and short front-of-book dispatches (350 to 750 words), with upcoming print themes covering topics such as Automation, How to Survive, and Rivalry. Pitches should establish a clear narrative arc or argument, explain why the story matters to a broad audience now, and showcase original reporting and writing without the use of generative AI. Rates range from $1 to $2 per word. Send pitches for online news and analysis to [email protected], or send print ideas, features, and essays to [email protected] by November 13.
